ORDINANCE 2025-01

AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE USE OF MOTORIZED VEHICLES AND E-BIKES ON CITY TRAILS AND PATHWAYS

On April 23, 2025, at the regularly scheduled Oakley City Council meeting, Ordinance 2025-01 was formally adopted and is effective as of this posting date, April 24, 2025. 

Ordinance 2025-01 establishes regulations regarding the prohibition of motorized vehicles on trails or pathways owned or maintained by Oakley City unless expressly designated for such use.  The ordinance also permits all classifications of E-Bikes on commuter and multi-use pathways that are paved or soft-surface of at least eight (8) feet or wider.  Only Class 1 and Class 2 E-Bikes are permitted on City Single track trails.  Exceptions to this regulation for E-Bikes are made for riders aged fifty-five (55) and older and/or individuals with mobility disabilities.  These individuals may use Class 3 E-Bikes.
